About
Philosophy
At Westside Academy we believe in a child-centered approach focusing on the needs of the whole child including academics, social emotional, physical and character development. We offer a positive, play-based environment designed to promote creativity in a nurturing environment through individual and group activities. Throughout the year we explore different themes through music, literature, art, science, dance, creative movement and gymnastics to help our students develop a love of learning.

Westside Academy follows the Tigard School District for weather and school closures only. Students must be 3 years of age to attend. If your child is not fully potty trained, please speak with the Preschool Director for further information.
Registration
Registration is open all year long, pending availability. Families choose the weekdays you attend (must be the same every week). Contact the office to register or contact our Preschool Director Cara Bartel – cbartel@westsideacademy.com
Afternoon Adventures
Monday - Wednesday
12–2pm (school year only)
Ages 3–5 years old
Afternoon Adventures 12–2pm is an active and inspired extension of our morning play-based preschool program! Extend your preschooler’s day with two more hours of fun or sign up as a stand alone class. Your child will enjoy lunch, story time, free play, group actives like art, STEM, dress up dance party and/or yoga. The day will end with play in the gym and/or time outside. Monday – Wednesday pending enrollment from 12-2pm, bring your own lunch (excludes holidays or school closure days). We kindly ask you to register early to help us confirm dates and secure your child's spot. Should we not meet the minimum number of participants, all registered families will be notified prior to the beginning of the school year.

Lunch Bunch is offered on Thursdays from 12–1pm during the school year. Pack a lunch and extend your preschool day with lunch, play and open gym! $56

• Tuition is based on a ten month school year of ten equal payments.
• Brand new families are required to pay an annual Membership Fee of $40 upon enrollment
• Full tuition is due each month regardless of days missed.
• Students may choose individual or multiple days a week (must be the same every week).
• A 10% discount per child is given to families with multiple siblings attending preschool.
• Students participate in both dance (2x/week) and gymnastics (5x/week) as part of the curriculum. Tap shoes are required for all students and may be purchased from our Pro Shop.
• Lunch Bunch fee is $56 – Thursday only.
• Drop-ins available pending availability – $25 per day for Afternoon Adventures, $16 for Lunch Bunch. Contact the front office to make arrangements.

Open House
Orientation
Tuesday September 1st, 2026 from 10:00am - 11:30am
Meet our teachers, see the classroom then join us for open gym from 11:30-12:30. Parents must stay on site - this is not the first day of preschool.
Academy Events
Performing Arts Preschool students are invited to take part in our ongoing events including Indoor Play Park, Lunch Bunch and Parents Night Out as well as our annual Dance Performances (Spring Recital) and our Gymnastics Gym Fest event in June. Families will be communicated with via email with all updates.
Gym Fest & Recital
All Preschool students are welcome to take part in our annual Gym Fest Exhibition held at the academy in June, and our annual Dance Recital, also held in June in downtown Portland. (costume, tickets, and participation fees additional)
